Duke holds a Master's degree in Development Practice and is a dedicated Diversity and Inclusion Specialist at the University of Pretoria.

In his role, he leads initiatives that align with the university's transformation and strategic objectives, focusing on programs that address discrimination, sexual harassment, and gender-based violence.

Duke also serves as the National Chairperson of the Gender Practitioners’ Community of Practice, where he collaborates on these critical issues across South Africa's public universities. His activism emphasises leadership development, community-based interventions, res orative justice, and mentoring young men in navigating their masculinities.

The Basketball Africa League (BAL) sixth season will tip off on Friday, March 27 at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria, South Africa, and culminate with 2026 BAL Finals on Sunday, May 31 at BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda. The 2026 BAL season will feature the top 12 club teams from 12 African countries playing 42 games in Pretoria; Rabat, Morocco; and Kigali.

This season, the 12 teams is divided into two conferences of six teams each. Each conference will
play a 15-game group phase during which each team will face the other five teams in its
conference once. The Kalahari Conference group phase will take place from March 27 – Sunday,
April 5 in Pretoria. The Sahara Conference group phase will take place from Friday, April 24 – Sunday, May 3 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.

Eight teams from across the two conferences will qualify for the Playoffs in Kigali from Friday,
May 22 – May 31. Fans can purchase tickets on Ticketmaster.com.

The 12 teams include Dar City – the first-ever BAL participant from Tanzania – first-time BAL participants JCA Kings (Côte d’Ivoire), Maktown Flyers (Nigeria), Johannesburg Giants (South Africa) and Club Africain (Tunisia), 2024 BAL champion Petro de Luanda (Angola) – the only team to have qualified for all six BAL seasons – and 2023 BAL champion Al Ahly (Egypt).
This season, the national league champions from seven countries – Angola, Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal and Tunisia – automatically qualified for the BAL. CSA & G (Centre for Sexuality, AIDS and Gender) is a university unit focused on sexual health, HIV/AIDS awareness, gender issues, and inclusive health education.

What they do:
Free HIV testing and counselling
Distribution of condoms and sexual health resources
Education on safe sex, consent, and prevention (including PrEP)
Advocacy around gender equality and LGBTQI+ inclusion

Why they matter in 2026:
HIV/AIDS is still a critical issue in South Africa, especially among youth
Rising conversations around consent, hookup culture, and digital dating

Rare Diseases South Africa (RDSA), the leading NPO (NPO 120-991), is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals affected by rare diseases and congenital disorders. The organisation plays a critical advocacy role by influencing policy and healthcare delivery to ensure that rare disease patients are not excluded from systems such as the National Health Insurance (NHI). Through its patient navigation service, “Rare Assist,” RDSA provides free case management support to help patients navigate medical aid claims, authorisations, and specialised applications. There are several ways to get involved: supporters can participate in fundraising through the Rare ACTIVist programme by taking part in athletic events like the Two Oceans Marathon or the Cape Town Cycle Tour, make voluntary donations to sustain patient services, or volunteer as “Charity Champions” by offering their time and expertise. RDSA also manages the Rare Bear Project, a community support initiative that empowers women through craftwork to create gifts for rare disease patients while generating income.
