LISTEN: NTSEKI ADMITS HE'S 'FAILED AS A COACH!'

MOLEFI Ntseki has owned up to Bafana Bafana failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) following their 2-0 defeat to Sudan in Khartoum on Sunday.
They finished the Group C perking order third on the log with 10 while Ghana won the group with 13 points, followed by Sudan with 12.
Ntseki admitted that the failure has dented South Africa's image and possibility of improving on Fifa rankings.
"The disappointment goes to every South African... the emotional pain that we have caused South Africans," said Ntseki following their loss.
"As a head coach of Bafana Bafana I came up with a turn around strategy, and I think everything started very well because we managed to accumulate the 10 points. We just needed a point to qualify. Yes as a coach, head of the selection committee, as head of the team my disappointment is huge.
"It's very huge for my personal growth, my personal achievements as coach of Bafana because the success of the team is my success.
"The failure of the team firstly starts with me to say I have failed as a coach because in football we need to own up. When there's success then you become everybody's favourite, but when there's failure you become an orphan and everybody is looking up to you and say you failed the team, you could not qualify.
"But things like these do happen in football. And we own up, we need to be very strong and say the team did not qualify. As a South African I wanted to see South Africa qualify. It's a big disappointment from my side."

There has been mixed feelings about Bafana Bafana's 2-1 loss to Zambia on Sunday, which came hot on the heels of their 1-1 draw against Namibia in their two international friendlies. Bafana are preparing for the back-to-back 2021 Afcon qualifiers against Sao Tome and Princepe on 9 and 17 November where they will have to win at all costs.
Bafana coach, Molefi Ntseki, used the game to identify more talent and to look at his charges' ability after having stayed for long without playing, owing to Covid-19 enforced lockdowns.
Players themselves have not been busy as they also had to stay away until last month when they finished the 2019-20 PSL season in a bio-bubble.
But Ntseki admits physically they were not at their best due to inactivity, but tactically they were spot on. However, he is happy now that the PSL season is about to start with the MTN8 this weekend, and then the DStv Premiership a week later, which he reckons will help his players with game time.
Percy Tau and Thulani Hlatshwayo didn't hide their unhappiness as they believe they should have won against Zambia and Namibia, but they're hoping to do better against Sao Tome and Principe.
To hep us unpack and analyse Bafana's latest setbacks, we're joined by Daily Sun's Maxwell Ramaru, Kgomotso Sethusha and eNCA's Tshepo Thobane.

This is how one may sum up the sale of Highlands Park to businessman Tim Sukazi of TS Galaxy.
SunSport understands that Sinky Mnisi appeared before the PSL executives on Monday where he was interrogated on his disapproval of the sale of the Premiership club.
The information reaching SunSport is that the club’s co-director has written to the league expressing his protest against the team being sold “behind his back”.
“Yes, I can confirm the fact that I was called by the league into a meeting on Monday and put up my case. There was consultative correspondence with the league but the response and outcome thereof will be sent to my legal team,” Mnisi said.
It is, however, unclear when will the league respond to Mnisi’s legal team but indications are that the fight for the sale of the club might take longer than anticipated.
It is believed that the announcement was due to be made this week.
Legal experts consulted by SunSport said Mnisi might be in a tight corner but it will be difficult for him to win the case, especially that he is a minority shareholder.
“When the people who contributing financially to the running of the club say they are no longer able to sustain running the club and opted to sell, then Mnisi cannot stop them. Much as he has a case to fight for, but it will be difficult for him to win it,” said our expert.

Calculators are the order of the day.
Pitso Mosimane and Ernst Middendorp must be without nails having bitten them throughout the season, when their teams went on a roller-coaster ride, until Saturday when it all comes to an ends.
And Limpopo is in control!
Clubs based in the northern part of the country – Baroka FC and Black Leopards – hold the key to the final destination of the 2019-20 Absa Premiership title.
Bakgaga host log leaders Chiefs at Milpark’s Bidvest Stadium (3.30pm), while their provincial rivals Lidoda Duvha battle it out with second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns at the Dobsonville Stadium on the same day, at the same time.
Chiefs and Sundowns are equal on points (56) following their respective wins against Chippa United (1-0) and Polokwane City (3-0) in midweek.
The Limpopo sides have their own relegation worries and they certainly will make it difficult for Chiefs and Downs to clinch the title with ease.
By all indications, the PSL’s dreaded axe has already claimed its first victim mathematically, Polokwane City, on Wednesday.
Baroka and Leopards are also involved in their own battles to avoid fighting for their PSL status via the relegation/promotion play-offs.
The title race has certainly kept spectators on the edge of their seats with the Brazilians closing the 13-point gap on log leaders Amakhosi to push the race down to the wire.
Much as he is unhappy with the rate in which they are scoring goals, but Mosimane is satisfied with a collective 80 goals scored this year.
"We're playing against a team that I would say is a well rested team."
He added that on Saturday they will "leave their skin on the pitch".
They want to bow out competitively.

LISTEN: PITSO AND MIDDENDORP TALKS AHEAD OF DOWNS v CHIEFS

VERY interesting week ahead with Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns set to fight in a top of PSL table clash.
Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp is not happy with defensive approach applied by teams like Stellenbosch.
Giants of South African football - Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlado Pirates - will be setting the tone for the resumption of the Absa Premiership on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Pirates and Sundowns will be sharing the Dobsonville Stadium pitch on Tuesday at 6pm, and Bidvest Wits have table-toppers Kaizer Chiefs at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday at the same time.
Chiefs are out to stretch their lead at the top of the table while Wits are heavily ambitious and want to exit the PSL in style at the highest position ever.
Wits coach Gavin Hunt just lost 3-2 to Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup semi-final on Saturday and they would be out to vent their frustrations at Chiefs, who have become targets for all clubs in the league.
Hunt, whose team are king-makers in this Premiership as they are going to play all the teams at the top, has always said he wants to win the PSL title for the last time before Wits moves to Limpopo as TTM.
On the other hand, Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has been keeping a low profile and no one knows what is happening in his camp, except that his number one striker Lebogang Manyama has won the Goal of the month for February/March, and that can raise expectations.
Manyama, the Premiership Player of the Season in the 2016-17 season, got the nod for the goal of the month award from football fans for his solitary goal that earned Chiefs a 1-0 win in the Soweto Derby at the end of February.
"His individual brilliance in the build-up to the goal saw him evade a couple of Pirates players before unleashing a powerful low drive from the edge of the 18-yard area into the net," PSL confirmed in a statement on Monday.
In the Pirates camp, it has been dark city throughout the lockdown period, and their coach Josef Zinnbauer has been playing his cards very close to his chest.
For Pitso Mosimane, his Sundowns team are an open book after having exposed all their plans when they beat Wits in the cup semi-final to book a final berth.
