The Real South Africa digs deep into the souls of three theatre actors and actresses of the Bitter Winter production. Interviewed on stage, it highlighted that our theatre needs more investment from arts and culture. Wonderful piece and worth watching. Ashleigh Roux, Events Manager of Gold Reef City talks to us about being an events manager at one of SA's most prestigious properties, Gold Reef City and the fun of the theme park. We move up into Africa and visit with Dr Joshua Rokuno, Director of the Chimpanzee Trust who look after Ngamba Island and rescue chimps. It was all started by Jane Goodall and her good work continues through those who care. Fred Wejuli, Lodge Manager of Entebbe Forest Lodge shares with us what the lodge is all about being on the shores of Lake Victoria and in the heart of both a forest and a city! Uganda Coffee festival is taking off this year as we celebrate coffee at its best. Kruger Shelati is a unique train hotel that spans a river and with spectacular views and awesome luxury, it cannot be missed. Anytime Media · Lemala Camps and Lodges · Sapro International - Exporting Home Abroad · Amrho and Laybye Holidays · See Stay Play · Hotel Sky · Vamos Travel and Tours · The Peoples Theatre · Victoria Manor and Die Tuishuise · Adrift, Jinja · Clarens Extreme · Black Brick Hotels

Echoes of the Titanic: A Visit to the New Titanic Museum

The Titanic was a British luxury ocean liner that tragically sank on its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City in April 1912. Known for its grandeur and cutting-edge design, it was deemed “unsinkable” due to its advanced safety features. However, disaster struck when it hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic, causing the ship to break apart and sink within hours. Over 1,500 passengers and crew lost their lives, making it one of the deadliest maritime disasters in history. The Titanic’s story remains a powerful symbol of human ambition, tragedy, and the limits of technological confidence.
I had the opportunity to visit Gino Hart of the New Titanic Museum in Mellville and what a visit it was. I am completely capivated now by the story. You will be too when you meet him!
Catch the show today at 9am on TV and on Radio. Visit www.anytimeradio-tv and click on Listen to hear it on Radio or Tv to watch it and if you miss it, dont worry its on Video on Demand and you can catchup. The Podcast is on Iono and is also available on the app for you to listen. We have added some survivor stories and other interesting videos as well as good music. Enjoy
<itunes:summary>As we continue to celebrate women in August, we Meet Jade Green | Entrepreneur | Visionary Leader | Advocate for Women in Business. With over 18 years of dynamic experience in the events, security, and wellness industries, Jade Green is a purpose-driven entrepreneur and transformational leader committed to empowering women and building sustainable ventures. Its a vibrant and engaging interview and a journey that is unforgettable. Her visible presence in WIBE - an organisation designed to assist Women in Business Export - has created a platform for small businesses to emerge in a worldwide market.

No sooner had we wrapped our interview with Jade then it was time to meet Albi Modise, Senior Executive of Communications at Gautrain Management Agency. And being a former radio personality, we first had to unpack his love of all things radio before we followed the journey of the pride of Gauteng - The Gautrain. From its inception in 2010 for the world cup till today. Initiatives such as KlevaMova and event driven options, its definitely the way to go. Find out more on www.gautrain.co.za.

With it almost being August, Geniene Preston, The Real South African from Vamos Travel Africa and Uncle Zek rounded off July with a successful month of great interviews in our studio with our Ambassador Hour enjoying a conversation with Sergio Carlos Macamo, Commercial Counsellor of the Republic of Mozambique High Commission in South Africa. We shared memories of this beautiful coastal country the home of LM Radio, Pao bread and so much more. Islands, cruising and landscape that makes it a perfect destination for South Africans and international visitors alike. Growing in tourism and with calm seas and natural habitats still in abundance, they welcome exporters, importers and businesses such as agriculture to join them in sustainability and planet saving initiatives. With plans for a highway to join north to south, they will soon be a destination of choice for all Africans.

The 18th July brings Nelson Mandela Day when we are asked to spend 67 minutes helping others in all sorts of ways and to this end we talk to Malcolm Burroughs an Ambassador for 67 Blankets and came into the studio to show us how to make blankets and scarves. Anyone wanting to join knitwits, visit www.67blankets.co.za and sign up! The world needs more knitwits.

Its cold here in Johannesburg but we have a hot channel filled with great travel options. This week we talk to two General Managers on opposite sides of the Victoria Falls. Chris Stander of the David Livinstone Safari Lodge and Victor Saurombe GM of Vic Falls Safari lodge in Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe side. They are both passionate about their properties and great to talk to. I managed to get two guides and a boat captain in one place long enough to also chat to them on the front of the Lady Livingstone just before we set sail on the Zambezi. Once again a fun activity together with a fun activity on the Zimbabwe side with the Boma Dinner and show at the Vic Falls safari lodge where I caught up with the GM setting up the Boma for the evening event. Loved both events and you should not leave Vic Falls without visiting both. From there we move across to the hard reality of scams and where we follow Erin West on her quest to rid the world of this terrible crime. Anytime Media · Lemala Camps and Lodges · Sapro International - Exporting Home Abroad · Amrho and Laybye Holidays · See Stay Play · Hotel Sky · Vamos Travel and Tours · The Peoples Theatre · Victoria Manor and Die Tuishuise · Adrift, Jinja · Clarens Extreme · Black Brick Hotels

Our first encounter was with the General Manager of Mukayla which is Nestled in the breathtaking Kariba Gorge, where the Zambezi River winds through untamed beauty, www.mukalya.com. We then met up with Nilla Muyembe of Laria Consultancy who shared with us the importance of research in travel and tourism. www.lariaconsultancy.com. Next up is High Fly Tours and their ability to be all things tourism, travel and a DHL express centre. Penjani Zulu is a young girl with aspirations beyond her years of introducing theatre and the arts to incoming tourism. The Studio 37 troupe of dancers, actors and artists are looking for support to engage this wonderful initiative. Young people from all over Africa are making their mark. We take our leave of Zatex and head to South Luangwa where we find an abundance of lodges and wildlife and Kafunta Safaris, with co owner Anka Cowan as she takes us through 25 years of growing their brand in the bush. www.kafuntasafaris.com.

We round off our trip this week (more to follow next week so remember to tune in) with a chat to Shaun Wheeler, GM of the Radisson Blu, in Livingstone home of the Victoria Falls and it was mentioned that Zambia own 1.4km of the 1.7km stretch! www.radissonhotels.com/en-us/hotels/radisson-blu-resort-mosi-oa-tunya.
I love how as Africans we can have multiple businesses and being multitalented. www.highflytours.com.

It’s a great week ahead of the Zatex Travel Expo. This travel expo should always a must on everyone’s calendar, no matter where you are in the world. From landing in Lusaka to visiting their national parks, Zambia is characterised by its miombo woodlands, large lakes and vast floodplains.

In anticipation of the Real South African arriving in Lusaka on Wednesday, we kick off todays show with Vincent Mupwaya, 1st Secretary (Tourism) of the Zambian High Commission, with an interview we did together with Monica Rubombora, SA Country Manager of Uganda Airlines. This week we are crossing live from ZATEX for the first time and we are excited about the prospect of The Real South Africa broadcasting live on Anytime Event Radio. So don’t forget to tune in from Thursday to Saturday on www.anytimemedia.co.za

Following hot on the heels of tourism but staying in the space of Entertainment, I chatted to Chris Forrest, our comedian with so much to share. Promoting his upcoming show, Don’t Burn your Sausage with Pete Goffe Wood at Redhill’s Arts festival, Redfest, as well as talking in general about his latest skit with Mark Banks and co on the visit of our President to Donald Trump, it’s a laugh a minute. Tickets available at ticketpro on

Next on our lineup is some of the cast of Mathilda, the latest show from the People’s Theatre. We meet Trunchbull, Honey and Mr Wormwood whilst uncovering some of what is to be expected from this truly memorable cast and wonderful theatre.

In our newest hour, the Hospitality Hustle we are discussing the wonderful wooden world of offcuts turned into the best wine glasses, plates etc by a company called Lodge Solutions in Uganda. Arnold of Masterwood joins Sheila the CEO of lodge solutions to bring to our attention the urgent need to be truly eco friendly.

Last but not least is our Real Scam hour with myself and Tracey Grummett, our favourite scam warrior who takes on those who are determined to scam us all. We look at the cosmetic world and how diet pills are not what they say they are. Follow our podcast on Spotify.

Enjoy the music, the show and just remember, Africa is where the heart of all of us beat and you should be packing your bag and deciding where to go next. Hopefully it is Zambia. · zatex.org · anytimeradio-tv.co.za · www.ticketpro.co.za · Anytime Media · Lemala Camps and Lodges · Sapro International - Exporting Home Abroad · Amrho and Laybye Holidays · See Stay Play · Hotel Sky · Vamos Travel and Tours · The Peoples Theatre · Victoria Manor and Die Tuishuise · Adrift, Jinja · Clarens Extreme · Black Brick Hotels

We are almost at the middle of the year and Zambia is calling. Before we head off to the Mighty East African country of Zambia, we want to share our latest show with you. Neo Mokuene, who is one of the Mad Swimmers who climbed the Himalayas to be one of those who swam at the highest altitude. He shares with us that after a year they are finally putting the documentary together sharing thoughts, dreams and how it changed the lives of everyone who climbed. At Indaba 2025, we took a moment to record one minute interviews with some of the stand holders and those are our commercials this week. No sooner are we done with that than we move along to take in the sights and sounds of camping. Just regular camping and what it means to South Africans and I have no doubt families worldwide with a new entrepreneur, Calvin Mncube of Base Camp 3. Great to see how humble but far sighted our young entrepreneurs are. In closing we have part 2 of the scam that almost bankrupted a community and sent the scammer to jail for 42 years! A record in the USA. Enjoy and catch up from Zambia - We will be broadcasting on Anytime Event Radio a Vamos Travel Africa special of 3 days on tourism in Africa. Anytime Media · Lemala Camps and Lodges · Sapro International - Exporting Home Abroad · Amrho and Laybye Holidays · See Stay Play · Hotel Sky · Vamos Travel and Tours · The Peoples Theatre · Victoria Manor and Die Tuishuise · Adrift, Jinja · Clarens Extreme · Black Brick Hotels

Next week is Indaba week and we are repeating our show due to popular demand! We chat to Peter Statham, Operations Manager of Wild Horizons about some new exciting adventures they have planned to open in 2025. Audrey MacMillan, CEO of SAPRO who export home abroad to south africans living overseas, shares with us the trials and tribulations of taking home to those who can’t get home. Linda Bekoe, the CEO of APLBC, a luxury brand marketing company taking care of business through inclusive travel as they create global awareness to independent hotels. To add to our lineup today I had the pleasure of meeting His royal Highness King Jude Mike Maduma the 3rd, on Sunday this week to talk about his current visit to South Africa and to meet members of his tribe, the Bamasaba people of Uganda and Northern Kenya. What a remarkable man with a remarkable vision. To round off our talks on Tourism, we feature Wahida Parker, CEO of Table Mountain Aerial Cableway company. Anytime Media · Lemala Camps and Lodges · Sapro International - Exporting Home Abroad · Amrho and Laybye Holidays · See Stay Play · Hotel Sky · Vamos Travel and Tours · The Peoples Theatre · Victoria Manor and Die Tuishuise · Adrift, Jinja · Clarens Extreme · Black Brick Hotels

From the shores of the Berg River to the waves of Langebaan...

Its been an incredible week on the Wes Kus. We travelled from Veldrift to Langebaan and onto Paternoster so the next few weeks we will continue to chart our journey through this beautiful part of South Africa. We toured the Berg River on the Cracklin’ Rosie for 3 hours enjoying the wonderful view, birding was great and Wendy and her team were so knowledgeable too.

We caught up with a wonderful lady - Betty who without any fanfare, feeds 700 destitute kids, parents and elderly in the region. Supported by local business owners such as Russell Foster whom we interviewed last week, she pushes forward each day with hope and prayer to keep her and her team cooking. Now that is a woman of influence and stature and deserves and award.

We found Jaco at the municipal offices of Langebaan and although at first uncertain whether he would be the right person to talk about the area, he had to be stopped at 58 minutes! I think given the opportunity his love for die Wes Kus, would have kept him going for a few more hours. And to wrap up this weeks show, The Real Scam and myself and Tracey Grummett from the UK are the warriors of scam. Enjoy .... Crackling Rosie Boat Tours · Anytime Media · Lemala Camps and Lodges · Sapro International - Exporting Home Abroad · Amrho and Laybye Holidays · See Stay Play · Hotel Sky · Vamos Travel and Tours · The Peoples Theatre · Victoria Manor and Die Tuishuise · Adrift, Jinja · Clarens Extreme · Black Brick Hotels

This week we bring you shows from the Cape to the West Coast. We talk to Lavonne Whitman about her journey from President of Skal to today and the difference Skal as an association makes to those who belong to this travel organisation. We also introduce a new sponsor, Emma Borg of Painted Wolf wines whose Chardonnay wine has now moved into my favourite wine category (sorry Fat Bastard, move over, there is a new kid in town). I visited the West Coast and found a kind human who supports so many initiatives within the small town of Velddrif, Port Owen and as a business owner takes it upon himself to also ensure the townsfolk are cared for. A new segment has been added to ensure we keep our vulnerable people safe, The Real Scam and myself and Tracey Grummett from the UK are the warriors of scam. Enjoy ....

The Groot Marico Boere Fees

Settle in for a genuine South African experience in Groot Marico. It's no wonder that so many of Herman Charles Bosman's tales featured this part of the country. With its enchanting atmosphere and warm hospitality, the Groot Marico offers you a culturally rich holiday that will be both relaxing and entertaining.

The town of Groot Marico in South Africa takes its name from the Groot (‘large’ or ‘great’) Marico River, which wends its way through the Marico District in North West province. Here, in a bushveld setting that is truly African, the attitudes are down-to-earth and the sunsets heavenly.

The Groot Marico is renowned as a cultural attraction and is also known as ‘Bosman Country’, for it is here that famous storyteller Herman Charles Bosman set most of his typically South African stories. Included in these are classics such as Willem Prinsloo’s Peach Brandy, The Traitor’s Wife and Peaches Ripening in the Sun.

The town is so laid-back that it seems as if time is a mere construct: a fact attested to by the clock face without any hands on the church steeple. Groot Marico is one of the only towns in South Africa that still has a manual telephone exchange. While the area is fully automated, the locals decided that they wanted to continue using the manual exchange, and so it remains to this day. Groot Marico Bosveld Fees · Anytime Media · Lemala Camps and Lodges · Sapro International - Exporting Home Abroad · Amrho and Laybye Holidays · See Stay Play · Hotel Sky · Vamos Travel and Tours · The Peoples Theatre · Victoria Manor and Die Tuishuise · Adrift, Jinja · Clarens Extreme · Black Brick Hotels

This week we start with James Byrne, CEO of the ITFFA who shares his ideas for the International Tourism Film Festival Africa and how tourism films from ads to glorious cinematography can make a difference to those wanting to visit SA. We move to up to the Congo (well New York if truth be told) and I am joined by Gaylord Kasayi, CEO and founder of the DRC Travel Meet, a new concept in Travel Expos. Coming back to SA, we move to Macahadorp and the beautiful Kloppenheim Country Estate and Hotel where GM Stuart Dunbar tells us why this is the venue of choice for weddings, conferences or simply just a getaway. Jed Crawford and son Mike from the Purple Orchid Cafe in the town centre fills us in on the history of the area. Lou Wong is an Artiste I met during our visit to the My Body My Space event taking place in the town. She hails from Manchester and telling stories through her solo performance including one with a fridge! Closing the show today we talk of heart break and lost fortunes with Claire Thompson of Campaign Against Adult Grooming. How can we stop scammers from taking what isn't theirs from vulnerable members of our society? CAAGE, Campaign Against Adult Grooming · Kloppenheim Country Estate and hotel · The Interntional Tourism Film Festival Awards · Anytime Media · Lemala Camps and Lodges · Sapro International - Exporting Home Abroad · Amrho and Laybye Holidays · See Stay Play · Hotel Sky · Vamos Travel and Tours · The Peoples Theatre · Victoria Manor and Die Tuishuise · Adrift, Jinja · Clarens Extreme · Black Brick Hotels

<itunes:summary>This week we start with James Byrne, CEO of the ITFFA who shares his ideas for the International Tourism Film Festival Africa and how tourism films from ads to glorious cinematography can make a difference to those wanting to visit SA. How can we stop scammers from taking what isn't theirs from vulnerable members of our society?</itunes:summary>

(See below for the times and dates of the show) We talk to Kgomotoso Ramothea and James Haigh about the role of ATTA (Africa Travel & Tourism Association) in a continuing dialogue with many tourism ministries, tourist authorities and associations across the African continent. Its also always good to hear how well our neighbouring countries are doing with Zmbabwe's Deputy Minister of tourism - Honourable Tongai. Andrew of Antbear Lodge in the Drakensburg shares the spotlight with Nottingham Road Hotel (Fondly known as Notties Hotel) Clive Foss. We revist our interview with the CEO of TAAG Airlines at the time, Rui Carreira in our fabulour car studio in Cape Town. Also in our car studio we met with Lisa Kerr and her mom Sandra from Die Tuishuise and Victoria Manor in Cradock. Last but by no means least marketing manager of Kruger Shelati, Gavin Ferreira, tells us why we should not miss an opportunity to stay on a railway line in the Kruger.
Weslee Lauder presents Paul Slabolepszy’s BITTER WINTER Studio Theatre, Montecasino Paul Slabolepszy’s Bitter Winter Premieres at Montecasino’s Pieter Toerien Studio Theatre– A poignant Tribute to South African Theatre Johannesburg, South Africa– Audiences are in for a treat as Bitter Winter, the latest play by acclaimed South African playwright Paul Slabolepszy, makes its debut at The Studio, Pieter Toerien’s Montecasino Theatre. This topical and timely production will run from February 20 to March 16, 2025, with tickets priced between R150 and R220. A Story of Resilience and Self-Discovery The Sheriff in the American Western film Six Guns at Sesriem is not the role a classically-trained actor in his mid-70s would typically aspire to—yet for Jean-Louis Lourens, this casting could be his lifeline. As Jean-Louis waits at a high-stakes audition for the arrival of the American movie director, he encounters Prosper Mangane, an up-and-coming television and film star. Prosper’s youthful energy and adventurous spirit offer Jean-Louis a new perspective on their shared profession—a career both rewarding and unforgiving. With slick and efficient casting director, Felicia Willemse, keeping the actors updated on the impending arrival of the hot-shot director, Jean-Louis and Prosper are left alone to reflect on their journeys in the cold, barren audition room. Their dialogue takes audiences through the struggles and triumphs of actors who remain deeply committed to their craft despite the challenges they face. A Heart-Warming Tribute to South African Talent, Bitter Winter offers a heartfelt exploration of the artist’s life. It celebrates the legends of South African theatre while shining a light on the new generation of rising stars making their mark on the global stage. This tender tale takes audiences along the winding, sometimes rocky road that many artists feel compelled to travel in pursuit of their dreams. The Cast and Creative Team The production boasts a stellar cast, with André Odendaal as Jean-Louis Lourens. Odendaal, who won a Naledi Award for Best Actor for his role in DOP, is also well-known for his TV roles in Binnelanders, Getroud Met Rugby, and Dwaalster. Oarabile Ditsele, fresh from a sold-out run of Rapela and Kill Move Paradise, as well as the acclaimed production of Woza Albert at the Baxter Theatre, takes on the role of Prosper Mangane. Chantal Stanfield, best known for her work in 7de Laan, Getroud Met Rugby, and her one-woman show From Koe’siestes to Kneidlach, recently starred as The Widow in the sold-out musical Mamma Mia!, and now plays casting director Felicia Willemse. Directed by award-winning director Lesedi Job, whose notable credits include When Swallows Cry, Brutal Legacy and Kill Move Paradise, among others and produced by Weslee Lauder, this production promises to deliver a powerful and moving theatrical experience.
